Let’s face it, we live in a time where every woman wants to feel liberated. And society knows the recipe for making money on trends. Step 1; get a pole installed in your bedroom, step 2- get pole burn on your thighs trying to slide upside down while holding on and seductively smiling. There’s nothing wrong with this. I have found my self on many poles having fun and being too silly to ever -ever have sex appeal. I guess some people are better at being the axis than being the wheel. The first time I spun around the pole, I really connected to the circular force. This is what it must feel like to be a hula hoop. I got dizzy but appreciated the strength and grace that it took to stay on. I then found my self face down on the floor with a bump on my forehead, my legs twisted up and the whole class doubled over laughing. And that was when I was really trying.

So I find that I am safer spinning something rather than being spun. Many would agree of the similarities both trendy workouts offer. From core strength to upper body toning to feeling sexy, both workouts bring out our sultry moves.

Next week is a fundraiser for one of my friends. A few forms of entertainment and warm ups will be offerd. I will give a hoop demo to 20 pro cyclists as a way to warm up the hips. Another girl will offer her variation of pole dance. I think I will play it safe and stay inside the hoop…

Ever wonder why you could hoop as a child but you can’t for the life of you , figure out why you can’t hoop as an adult? The answer is easy. You are only as good as your gear. You wouldn’t try to squeeze into the pair of jeans you wore when you were 6 years old, so why do you think you can put a small, light weight hoop around your waist and spin it successfully. As you get older, you get taller and heavier. You take up more space, so you need more space to move around in. That’s all. My measurements of how I fit people with the right sized hoop include hieght, weight and spinal tension.

There are companies who sell dangerously heavy hoops. I have documentation from many who have had physical related injuries from these hoops. The safest weight for adults is 2-3 pounds. No More. I should know because I have lived my life in the hoop since 1998. I used to hoop for 6 hours a day a few days a week. (I had a lot of time in my 20′s to travel to concerts and dance for hours.) I have tried every hoop on the market and am told by hundreds that my hoops are the safest and most effective.

It is important to find the right circumference and weight for your proportions. People over 400 pounds have hooped beautifully with my hoops. I have a size chart on my site which can help you decide. Most importantly, once you step in to a proper hoop, you will see how easy it is to learn.

Years ago I had a busy mom call me to say that she lost 10 pounds in 1 month of hooping to my DVD only 20 minutes a few times a week. She would hoop in her living room and for that 20 minutes, her 3 kids would sit around her to watch. They timed her progress, daring her to keep the hoop spinning for the whole time. Every time it would start to fall, she’d work harder to keep it up. This encouragement from her kids motivated her to move deeper into her workout. She hooped through phone calls, dinner and sometimes bedtime stories. She became so addicted to hooping that she didn’t remember it was a workout. Eventually, her husband had to tell her that there were other toys in the house to play with. Sounds funny but as soon as she stepped away from the hoop, the kids would use it and you know how it is, trying to take a toy from a kid.

Needless to say, the hoop inspired her to focus more on having fun as opposed to needing to get fit. The DVD guided her to use her whole body effeciently and by the end of the first month, her in home workout that she was dreading to start, became part of her every day life. To date, she has lost over 20 pounds, has increased her metabolism and digestion, relieved a lot of mental stress, is known as ‘The Hip Mom on the Block’ and enhanced her sex life. Not a bad change of life for just an in home workout. For similar results, buy the Betty Hoops and DVD today.
