Why Kids Love Dancing to the 4 Rhythms!

Earth rhythm can bring out the strength in us. We can stomp our feet like a bear, stand tall like a tree and feel as grounded as a mountain. Hoop dancing to this rhythm brings out the warrior spirit.

Water rhythm instills playfulness and fluidity. Kids love to pretend they are swimming while hooping. They practice the back stroke, front stroke and floating weightless.

Fire rhythm makes kids breathe deeply into their belly. From this core strength, they can control the hoop’s speed. Kids use their hands like fireworks and move their feet quickly like they are stepping over hot coals.

Air rhythm promotes lightness in the mind and body. We fly around the room like an eagle or an airplane. They practice breathing into every cell and nerve ending in their body.

Resting Pose
Children actually respond to this activity really well. In between each rhythm, we encircle the hoop with our arms giving our self a big hug. Children close their eyes and rest their minds and bodies. They breathe out through their mouths to sound like the wind. For 2 whole minutes the gymnasium is quiet with 80 kids just breathing.

Free Style section is included because all kids love to learn fun tricks. They practice the ‘ body orbit’, ‘figure 8′s’, ‘full throttle twister’ and ‘simon says’
