			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Join Wanderlust Live Studio and Betty Hoops in Austin TX, for a series of Hoop Core classes and and Tribal Trance Dance. May 18-20th. <a href="http://www.wanderlustlive.com" target="_self">Wanderlustlive.com</a></p>
<p>My <em>Tribal Hoop Dance </em>workshops are similar to Holistic Raves. Cultural music, sweat, smiles and glow hoops fill the dark room.Everyone takes their spot in the center of their tiny universe. Of course I mean <a href="http://www.bettyhoops.com/programs.html">The Betty Hoop</a>. A collapsible, padded, safely weighted, Idiot Proof hoop! (They hug the body as they spin, making it easier to hoop, work deep in the core and push out toxins.)</p>
<p>For those who cannot attend these classes in Austin, TX here is how to reach higher states of awareness, healing and ecstasy while hooping.</p>
<p>First you must crank African, Latin, hip hop and Arabian music. They create different moods through their tempos and rhythms. Then, close your eyes. Press your bare feet into the floor. Feel every nerve ending wake up and extend down into the earth. Feel grounded in your body, stable and strong. Spin your hoop. Feel the waves push and pull around you, rocking your hips open. Feel it&#8217;s weight and C-Force pull you back into alignment. Standing tall, from the center of your spine up through your head. Breath deeply. Exhale the days stress. Breath even deeper. Inhale that feeling that you had when you were a child and the world was safe and the unknown was exciting. Breath deeper still, into that void of uncertainty. Life, growth, openness. Use your breath to soften and open every organ, your skin, your mind, your consciousness. FEEL the hoops&#8217; vortex whirl around you effortlessly. Pull your Kundalini /Chi/Life force energy up your spine. Feel it oscillate with the hoops flow. And flow with it. Rock your body. Sway to your rhythm. Play between the inner and outer space of your hoop. LET GO to the hoops flow more. Let it tug at your skin, your ribs, your thoughts. Let it mold you into an effortless dancer.</p>
<p>Dance from that full expression of your feelings. Stretch your arms up to open your heart. Make fists if you feel intensity, angry, strong. Claw at the air in front of you, bringing energy into your space. Soften your fingers, letting them catch the air between them, like rustling leaves in the cool spring air. Let your moods change remaining unattached to every feeling but aware of every sensation. Unlock the tension in your belly. Your life force center. Let the hoop set the beat for how you breath. Let it push and pull your solar plexus open. Now dance. In your space. Releasing, Receiving, remembering your true self in every turn.</p>

<p><strong>Betty Hoops did it!!</strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://hollywoodhalfmarathon.com" target="_self">Hollywood Half Marathon</a>. Betty ran 13.1 miles and had enough core power to perform over 8,500 standing sit ups while running.  They also raised money and awareness for the Los Angeles Youth Network.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Meet Team Hoop: </strong></p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Ann Ongena</strong>: </span></span>An amazing ball of energy, ultra runner and Arnold Schwartzenager&#8217;s counterpart. She was a front runner, politely parting the runners ahead, saying hi to all the cops and doing jumping jacks at the top of each hill. She hustled and got her running pal Rachel to join last minute.</p>
<p>((the marketing mananger of <a href="http://www.onewater.com" target="_self">O.N.E. Coconut Water</a> had committed to be a runner and also sponsor the team dinner that night. She ridiculously never made contact via phone or email that she was no showing!) I must say that in all my years in the business I have never had the experience of someone not even using basic consideration to communicate they would not be able to fullfill their obligation. We greatly needed her as a blocker and she left us with less than 10 hours to replace her. ONE clearly will not be endorsed by Team Hoop due to the lack of integrity!))</p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong style="text-decoration: underline;">Rachel: </strong><span style="color: #000000;">Ann&#8217;s running pal and friend, she risked life and limb to get palm leaves and safey cones out of the way of the hoop! She was a side runner who didnt miss a beat and her enthusiasm to join the team with 8 hours of notice was greatly needed and appreciated. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;"><span style="color: #000000;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Dennis:</span></span></strong> Good travel companion and shuttle driver for the whole trip.He took the role of Back runner, holding the racers from running into the hoop during the down hills, straight aways and finish. He also ran with a <a href="http://www.gopro.com" target="_self">Go Pro</a> to document for the <a href="http://www.guinnessbookworldrecords.com" target="_self">Guinness Book</a> and was our Zen pacer, reminding everyone to breath and soften their step. Running pals with the famous Barefoot Ted, he ran in his <a href="http://www.5fingers.com" target="_self">5 Fingers</a>. He also is the owner of the design and manufacturing company<a href="http://www.partsondemand.com" target="_self"> Parts on Demand</a>. He manufacturers my <a href="http://www.bettyhoops.com" target="_self">collapsible hoop </a>- the best on the market! He also helps small businesses grow my offering affordable design and manufacturing solutions. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;"><span style="color: #000000;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Murtuza:</span></span></strong> Flying all the way from <a href="http://www.letsmove.org" target="_self">D.C.</a> Murtuza, growing up in Bombay, brought a gentle and supportive vibe to the team. He acted as a side runner on the left. He stayed calm and graciously got people out of the hoops way. He is a marathon runner, set to run the race in Antarctica and was so helpful to want to join Team Hoop to help raise money for L.A.Y.N as well as jump into making history. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;"><span style="color: #000000;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Westley:</span></span></strong> Joining the team the night before, Wes is a 17 year old living at one of the 3 transitional homes through <a href="http://www.layn.org" target="_self">L.A.Y.N.</a> A focused and mature kid ,he is college and plans to get his EMT license soon on his way to becoming a doctor and helping kids less fortunate. He walked a mile to meet us at the hotel at 5am. He was a back runner, handing out business cards and although a bit too shy to yell out commands, he held the space extremely well. His true colors came out during  our celebratory dinner and hoop night. I have no doubt that he will go as far as he wants to in life and hope to be a part of his success, even from a far. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;"><span style="color: #000000;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Josh &amp; Michael: </span></span></strong>2 local professional camera men who I hired for the race. I will soon post pictures and video of the race. They are documentary film makers and worked very hard to keep up with the team and meet at various points on the course for still shots. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;"><span style="color: #000000;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://www.runningskirts.com" target="_self">Running Skirts:</a> </span></span></strong>The 2 model-esk twins whose clothing designs are worn and flattering on any body &#8211; gave me a tank and a few other garments to wear. They are endurance runners and their company is now one of the most popular companies for good quality and flattering active wear for women. I am honored to run and hang out in their designs. <a href="http://www.runningskirts.com" target="_self">www.runningskirts.com</a></span></span></p>
<p><strong>Race Story</strong></p>
<p>April 7th, 6am <a href="http://www.hoopcore.com" target="_self">Team Hoop</a> gathers in their circle to protect Betty and her spinning hula hoop down the 13.1 miles through the streets and hills of Hollywood. Ann kept the energy high and set a fast pace. We ran quickly past our first goal of breaking the initial distance record of 10k. There were the group of Elvis&#8217; who jogged with a boombox, a really nice guy who kept singing hoop songs and tons of racers who were happy to step to the side to let us. pass. Many were dressed up in superhero outfits. The race looped back down the opposite side of the road. We got to see and be inspired by the dozens who were speeding down the last half.</p>
<p>There was a strong head wind which made it harder for the hoop to spin, so during the long hill in the last mile of the race, we slowed down quite a bit. Then came the finish. It was hard for me to find the rhythm between my gate and my belly pumps but we pushed ahead and got a short sprint in the last hundred yards toward the finish.</p>
<p>It was a fantastic race and of course I couldnt have done it at all with out Team Hoop. They were dedicated, supportive, energetic and so much fun. For those of you who are active in any sport and wonder how I hoop-run, you must buy my workouts &#8211; <a href="http://www.hoopcore.com" target="_self">HoopCore</a> and 2 others will be on the market this month. My method is the ONLY hoop workout which teaches true core power and precision by using a series of muscle isolation techniques.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Well I am in only my second week of training for a 13.1 mile race that is in 4 weeks. I had some major medical issues which prevented me from training this winter. My first day of training I was so discouraged that after only 30 minutes on a stationary bike I left the gym and bought a cheesecake.</p>
<p>My hoops speed has been clocked at 2 revs per second. That means that in the estimated 3 1/2 hours that it will take for me to Hoop-Run to the finish, I will need to generate enough core power for 37,800 belly pumps. The Belly Pump is part of my Quick Fire Method. I use this to establish true core strength, separate from the hips, lower and upper body. Once the body learns how to isolate the core muscle group, one can increase flexibility and agility as well as burn 100 calories every 10 minutes. Dozens have lost 10 pounds in the first month with this method.</p>
<p>This year we run to raise money for<a href="http://layn.org/" target="_blank"> Los Angeles Youth Network. </a>Their organization achieves great success with getting kids off the streets and into jobs and homes. Empowering youth is crucial.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.bettyhoops.com/corporate.html" target="_self">Team Hoop</a> this year consists of some colorful people and I am thankful for all of their adventerous spirit.</p>
<p>Dennis from Denver, CO is a famous barefoot runner who founded Parts on Demand; a design and outsourcing company for small business to grow quickly.</p>
<p>Murtuza is a long distance runner flying all the way from Washington DC.</p>
<p>Lucy is the marketing executive of <a href="http://www.onedrinks.com/" target="_self">O.N.E. Coconut Water.</a> She was so excited to join the team that she thought everyone had to Hoop-Run. I called her the second week and she told me that she was having problems Hoop-Running. When I told her that she just had to be a blocker, she felt much relief.  They are our sponsor and thankfully, the whole team has already been addicted to using the water to hydrate prior to races. We are thrilled to have unlimited ONE Water to drink. It will save us.</p>
<p>Then there is Ann, and ultra- ultra runner who might fall asleep running only a 15 minute mile.</p>
<p>We are still looking for a runner who has a hand held camera and battery pack.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1485990063&amp;sk=info" target="_blank">Joshua Goldman</a> of JG Athletics is learning the Hoop Core Program.</p>
<p>He is certified in Strength Training, Sports Performance, Active Isolated Stretching and Pre &amp; Post Rehabilitation.</p>
<p>He has  felt many benefits from using my collapsible hoop. Mostly he recognized that the <a href="http://www.bettyhoops.com" target="_self">Belly Pump</a> is a quick way to get his clients in shape. In the first 10 minutes, even a very fit coach is breaking a sweat and feeling the burn.</p>
<p>The most interesting thing we discovered while doing the Kidney Push- (the Belly Pump with focus on disengaging the ribcage from the lower back muscles) is that the Belly Pump is very similar to the spinal decompression table used in many chiropractors offices.</p>
<p>This table tilts up and down under the pelvis. The chiropractor will then hold certain low back muscles to increase traction (stretch, in that muscle) therefor releasing <a href="http://www.americanspinal.com/" target="_self">compression</a> in the spine.</p>
<p>These effects are exactly what people get when they achieve the Belly Pump. Many people have completely relieved their sciatic pain and low back pain in the first few weeks of practicing this method.</p>

<p>So hooping is now a trend. Everyone and their mother are &#8216;teaching&#8217; with hoops.</p>
<p>People are naming their classes as being Fitness and Holistic. I could tell you documentation of what is really going on in these programs with hoops but that would take a while.</p>
<p>I had an old and fat gym teacher in middle school. She would tell us how to do somersaults but couldn&#8217;t show us.                                   <em>i left discouraged in myself when management was to blame. NOT GOOD<br />

<p>I had an aerobics teacher at the Aspen Athletic Club. In 1991 she asked me to leave the step aerobics class because I guess I was endangering others and myself. The rockets like routine was too fast and hard to keep up with &#8211; all for the sake of fitness &#8211;                   <em>i left discouraged in myself when management was to blame. NOT GOOD</em></p>
<p>In 1994 I went to a yoga class. The teacher, Laura, adjusted everyone in the whole class. Her verbal cues were confusing at first. Breathe into your feet, lift your chest toward the sky.. I left class thinking &#8220;how the hell does one do that?!&#8221; I also left class feeling not just relaxed, stronger and taller, I left with better body awareness.</p>
<p>&#8230;and isnt that what movement classes are all about. First- teaching the student to understand their body, Then- guiding them in either organized and or freestyle movements.</p>
<p>I still get calls and emails each week from people who&#8217;ve attended other hoop trainings and classes. They are discouraged. I of course ask them the important questions like, what size and weight of hoop are you using &#8211; because we all know that you are ONLY as good as your gear. I ask if they could feel their core moving separately from their hips. They dont know what I mean .</p>
<p>HOOP BASICS:</p>
<p>Learn the Belly Pump. Learn to move isolate and then integrate the musculoskeltal system. In the hundreds of studies I;ve done, <a href="http://www.heavyhoop.com">most hoop teachers</a> do not even know how to pump from their core. Because of this, you can see the compression and hyperextension in their lower back and shoulders.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve trained many people who have been teaching with the hoop. I am overwhelmed each time that they tell me they NEVER &#8211; understood the common mistakes while hooping and never had used the right part of the body. And some of them are <a href="http://http://www.acefitness.org/" target="_self">A.C.E.</a> certified.</p>
